Ministry

Pastor Eskor gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ in 1987 and joined the Redeemed Christian Church Of God, Apapa Parish in 1991. He became a member of the Workers’ Group. From his first preaching assignment in a little church at Orile, he began leading Workers’ Meeting and was soon ordained an Assistant Pastor. He worked in various capacities in the church; from Pastor-in Charge of Freedom Hall, he was posted to Victoria Island to run Victory Temple. After he returned to Freedom Hall As Area Pastor, he lead a team to Haiti to plant a Parish and was later sent to London to run Jesus House London for a Season.

In 1996, he was sent with a group of workers to set up a parish in Victoria Island called City of David; the church to which he would devote his life’s work. It grew to be regarded as the true worship center from Lagos to the United State. Shortly thereafter, he was appointed the Head of Apapa Family, a group of all the Churches that came out of the old Apapa Parish. In 1999,he was appointed State Pastor for Headquarters State 3 to administer the growing number of churches in the Apapa Family.

In 2004 he was appointed Provincial Pastor Of Lagos Province 4. While he held these positions, Pastor Eskor still worked to set up myriad of revolutionary programs aimed at the propagation of the gospel. He ensured that everyone was reached regardless of social and economic standing. In February 2001, he began A CAN Make a Difference, an out reach program that catered to the poor across Lagos. Every Sunday, individuals in need received hearty meals and basic medical care thereby experiencing the love of God. This outreach extends also to Lagos Prisons.

Pastor Eskor also favored drama as an effective form of evangelism. He Worked very closely with Christian Drama Group, Free Gift International, to produce inspirational plays. He did not stop here; he brought Mr. Zik Zulu Okafor to produce Heaven’s Gate, a soap opera which debuted in April 2004. The show currently runs on Silverbird Television. He later worked again with free Gift international to produce a radio drama, Close Encounters, which debuted on 28th May 2006 and now run on Ray Power Fm 100, Star Fm and other local stations.

Sometime in 2005, he started the School Of Prosperity which brought together a group of Christian businessmen, who could pull resources together and make investments that would not only prosper them but also help further the gospel. He believed very strongly that it is a misnomer for any Christian to have to beg for food or be hindered by lack of funds for the work of God. God had prospered him using these principles, he was devoted to teaching them to everyone who was willing to learn. Pastor Eskor presented the gospel in its fullness and did all he could to ensure that the light of God shone in every area of the lives of his congregation. He started the School Of Life in May 2005 and through this school, he was able to help young converts gain a solid foundation. With a significant retention rate, the school produced a good number of successful business professionals and entrepreneurs in the church and society at large.

He was so interested in having everyone understanding and living the gospel that he started the Nannies Literacy Program in City of David on the 11th of May, 2006. Through this initiative, nannies that could not read and write were given basic education, enabling them read their Bibles and empower them for the future.

Education was of the utmost importance to Pastor Eskor and he made immense contribution to the educational infrastructure of his community, extending far beyond City of David. He encourage everybody to get the best education that they could and through his ministry, several people received financing for school. He sat on the Board of the Redeemers University. He also led the Fortress School Project – an organization aimed at educating a cross-section of Nigeria’s under-represented groups, the first two School are located in Ifewara and Akwuzu.

Pastor Eskor was a true worshipper and encouraged his congregation to engage in praise through creative forms. He began with Lazarus Come Forth; a special healing programme in November 2001. Several testimonies of healing and deliverance came out of this service. Hallelujah Sunday was another time of praise where all were encouraged to show their craziness for God through their dressing similar to King David in biblical times. On Nicodemus Sunday, church members were encouraged to bring there unbelieving friends who were welcomed as honored guests. To ensure that the attitude of prayer was maintained throughout a hectic work week, Pastor Eskor began, He is Lord Praise Hour, an intense session of praise every Friday.

Pastor Eskor’s innovative plans were deferred after a brief illness in June 2006 which caused him to leave Lagos to received medical attention in London. He was subsequently discharge from hospital and was looking forward to returning to Nigeria before the Lord called him home on Monday,30 April 2007.

The story of Pastor Eskor’s Ministry, though Immense, is still written in the heart of everyone he impacted. The City Of David Sanctuary in its excellence, beauty and ingenuity, stands as a testament of the legacy of a man dedicated to serving the Lord.
